Speaking Examination Courses
Building your English for the future with examination courses

1-2 weeks (longer courses available). These courses offer a more in-depth study option and are designed for groups of students currently working towards an exam, or planning to take an exam in the future. Our aim is to help students improve their confidence and to build on speaking, listening, reading, writing and vocabulary skills. We plan our classes to fit the needs of our students and focus on improving general English skills which are transferable to the chosen exam, as well as helping students to understand the format of the exam and giving the techniques and practice needed to achieve success. By taking an internationally recognised English exam you have instant proof of your level,evidence of your ability to study, advantage over others looking to study or work in an English speaking environment and more confidence in communicating in English.

For groups aged 11 to 18 (16 to 18 for IELTS) – (levels A1 – C2)


Term time only:

  • 7 January – 4 April 2025 (half term: 17 – 21 February 2025)
  • 23 April – 22 July 2025 (half term: 26 – 30 May 2025)
  • 3 September – 19 December 2025 (half term: 27-31 October 2025)
  • For groups of 15 or more students
  • Class times 09 00 – 12 30 or 13 30 – 17 00 (with a 30-minute break)
  • Arrive any day of the week
  • 20 hours of study per week – 15 hours of English Lessons plus 5 hours of workshops (Monday to Friday, with optional Saturday).

Introduction to Exams


The English Experience offer an Introduction to Exams course, which can be of any duration from 6 days to 4 weeks. Cambridge examination courses

Cambridge exams are internationally recognised by universities and employers in English-speaking countries.

Our exam preparation courses focus on the development of communicative skills through activity-based learning and group work. Through these fully immersive courses you will improve your language skills and maximise your fluency using English both in the classroom and in the real world.

Cambridge English exams take the form of 4 separate papers which test speaking, listening, reading, writing and use of English with an emphasis on general English. The exam tasks test your real-life language skills and your use of everyday spoken and written English for work or study purposes. These certificates never expire — they are an achievement for life and are recognised around the world.

Trinity GESE off-peak examination courses

    Level: Pre-A1 (Beginner) to C2 (Proficiency)

Trinity GESE qualifications are recognised internationally as reliable evidence of English language proficiency. They are a good introduction to exams and offer an easier option for assessment of general English ability.

Our exam preparation courses focus on the development of communicative skills through activity-based learning and group work. Through these fully immersive courses, you will improve your language skills and maximise your fluency using English both in the classroom and in the real world.

Graded Examinations in Spoken English (GESE) take the form of a one-to-one unscripted conversation with a native English-speaking Trinity examiner and take between 5 and 25 minutes. Successful candidates receive an official Trinity College London certificate for their grade.

There are 12 grades available from CEFR Pre-A1 to C2, so there is a grade to suit every student.

At each grade, candidates carry out a number of speaking and listening tasks to show their fluency, accuracy and ability to communicate in English and focuses on building confidence and motivation, so are ideal for teenagers and young learners.

Test and Certificate


At the end of course there will be a one-to-one test with a Trinity Examiner and an official GESE certificate for successful participants.

IELTS – International English Language Testing System

    Level: B1 (Intermediate) or higher

IELTS qualifications are internationally recognised by universities and employers in English-speaking countries.

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) takes the form of 4 separate papers which test your speaking, listening, reading and writing. The exam is taken on specific dates at controlled test centres.

The IELTS 9-band scale. You will be given a score from 1 to 9 for each part of the test – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The average produces your overall band score. You can score whole (e.g., 5.0, 6.0, 7.0) or half (e.g., 5.5, 6.5, 7.5) bands in each part of the test.

The IELTS test is aimed at people who want to take a more academic exam and for those who are looking to go to university in the UK or are applying for a UK VISA. The qualification is valid for 2 years.
